What is Mummy Makeover?
It is the improvement of the changes observed in women’s bodies after child birth that combines a number of treatments into one procedure.
Mummy Makeover is a personalized operation. The most common combination includes breast lifting, tummy tuck and liposuction simultaneously.
Who undergoes Mummy Makeover?
Women suffering from loose and saggy breasts, looseness in abdominal muscles and skin as well as stretch marks after child birth and breast-feeding, and women suffering from excess fat that have accumulated in specific areas undergo mummy makeover. Patients who want to restore their fit, pre-pregnancy figure are also suitable for this process.
What should be done prior to surgery?
As in all plastic surgeries, the patient should quit smoking minimum two weeks prior to the operation and should also avoid smoking for two weeks after the operation. Anticoagulant drugs, such as Aspirin etc. should be quitted minimum 10 days before the operation. The patient should discontinue any other medication or dietary supplement (medication that include Ginseng, CoQ, Gingko Bloba etc.) 1 week before the operation. The patient should also disclose any other significant conditions to their surgeon.
What is the surgery technique?
Mummy makeover is a custom-designed operation. The patient can undergo combined operations under general anaesthesia, and the operation may take up to 3 to 5 hours depending on the type of the procedure. Breast reduction, augmentation or lifting can be applied. Mini or complete tummy tuck might be applied depending on the looseness of the abdominal skin. The areas suffering from excess fat might be recontoured by liposuction. The areas can be thinned or filled as preferred.
What to expect after the surgery:
Patients are generally monitored at the hospital for a day or two. Patients start walking on the operation day. It is necessary to wear the post-surgical garments and bra. The post-surgical garments should be worn for three weeks. Patients can have a bath on the second day of the operation. After a few days’ rest, patients can resume their daily lives. They are advised to avoid heavy sports activities for the first six weeks.
